In her works, Maša Kores explores the fine line between the real and the unreal, the visible and the invisible. By combining various techniques and digital processing, she creates visual narratives in which she herself is the central figure, inviting the viewer to reflect upon and explore new perspectives.
Her photographs are not merely aesthetically appealing; they bear a deep symbolism and convey stories that each viewer can interpret in their own way. Each photograph in which she is present is carefully designed to awaken the imagination and offer an escape into a world where anything is possible. Through her work, Maša explores topics that go beyond everyday life, inviting us to step outside reality for a moment and indulge in illusions and dreams. Her creative process emphasises finding new ways of expression and fresh technological approaches. The use of contrasts in light, shade and colour plays a key role in creating an atmosphere that captivates the viewer and guides them through the pictures’ stories. Each work reflects a deep connection between technique and content, where digital manipulation intertwines with classic photographic elements.
Biography:
Maša Kores studied media and journalism, but her path always drew her to photography. For many years, she has photographed abandoned buildings throughout Europe, including hospitals, villas, castles, churches and industrial complexes. Her photographs of these abandoned places reveal hidden stories and forgotten histories, which have become distinctive elements of her creative expression. During the Covid-19 pandemic, when travel was limited, she shifted her attention to a different type of photography, which, with a little imagination, could be created anywhere. This change opened up the exploration of new techniques and topics, further enriching her artistic oeuvre. Maša’s work has appeared in numerous prominent publications, including National Geographic, Digital Camera, Elle, and Playboy.
